A 44-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a late-night crash on the Jackie Robinson Parkway in Queens, according to police and local reports. The collision occurred Wednesday night, September 23, on a curving section of the parkway in Glendale, between Exit 3 at Cypress Hills Street and Exit 4 near Forest Park Drive and Myrtle Avenue.
Police said the man was riding a 2023 Harley-Davidson motorcycle at approximately 11:04 p.m. when he apparently lost control while navigating the roadway. The section of the Jackie Robinson Parkway where the crash occurred contains several curves and runs between Cypress Hills Cemetery.
According to the preliminary investigation, the motorcycle went out of control and the rider was thrown from the bike. He struck a concrete median, suffering critical injuries.
Officers from the NYPD's 104th Precinct, along with members of the NYPD Highway Patrol and New York City Fire Department, responded to the scene. Emergency medical personnel transported the injured rider to Brookdale University Hospital. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Authorities have not publicly released the victim's name, pending notification of his family.
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation. The NYPD Highway Patrol's Collision Investigation Squad is examining the incident, including the events that led to the rider losing control of the motorcycle.
The crash adds to a series of fatal motorcycle incidents reported across New York City in September. Recent reports have included a motorcyclist who died after a crash on a Queensboro Bridge ramp on September 17.
Officials have not announced any arrests or criminal charges in connection with the Jackie Robinson Parkway crash.
