It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we share the passing of Kenneth Douglas Hunter of Smithville, Ontario. Kenneth left this world suddenly on March 2, 2026, in Hamilton, Ontario, at the age of 26, leaving behind a legacy filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories for all who knew him.
Though his life was tragically short, Kenneth’s impact on his family, friends, and community was profound and enduring. Born in 1999, Kenneth was known for his adventurous spirit, his boundless energy, and his infectious sense of humor.
Friends and family remember him as someone who could light up any room with his presence, always ready with a smile, a joke, or a comforting word.
He had a gift for connecting with people, making everyone around him feel valued and appreciated. His warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Kenneth was deeply devoted to his family. He is survived by his loving mother, Nicole, and is remembered fondly by his siblings, Nathan, Colton, Emily, and Wyatt.
He was predeceased by his father, Lyle, in 2022, and by his grandmother, Kim. Kenneth was also lovingly supported and cherished by his grandfather, Serge; his aunts and uncles Vanda, Tia, Taylor, Rayven, James, and Jim; as well as his cousins Chris (Trish) Kira, Christopher Jr., Candice (Derek), Liam, and Dax.
His stepmother, Kayla, also held a special place in his life. Kenneth’s family remembers him as someone with an extraordinarily big heart, whose love and loyalty were evident in every interaction.
Outside of family, Kenneth was an adventurer at heart. He loved riding his dirt bike, fishing, and chasing new experiences, embracing life with a sense of freedom and excitement.
He found joy in the simplest moments, whether exploring the outdoors or sharing laughs with friends. Kenneth had a way of turning everyday experiences into lasting memories, leaving behind stories and moments that will be treasured by all who knew him.
Kenneth’s passing has left a void that will be deeply felt, but the memories of his laughter, his adventurous spirit, and his generous heart will endure. He taught those around him the importance of living fully, embracing joy, and showing love to those who matter most.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at Merritt Funeral Home in Smithville from 2:00–4:00 p.m., with a private family burial to follow at a later date. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Kenneth’s life, share their memories, and honor the impact he had on all who knew him.
Though Kenneth Douglas Hunter’s life was far too brief, his spirit, laughter, and love will remain forever in the hearts of those he touched. He will be remembered as a devoted son, a loving brother, a loyal friend, and a free-spirited soul whose presence brightened the lives of everyone around him.
