A tragic four-vehicle crash on U.S. 59 in Franklin County, Kansas, has left two people dead and several others injured. The collision happened shortly after 9:30 p.m. Friday, about three miles north of Richmond, according to reports citing the Kansas Highway Patrol.
Authorities identified the two people who died as Auriana K. Davis, 18, of Kansas City, Missouri, and Myron B. Wolken, 73, of Beloit. Davis was driving a 2021 Kia Forte northbound when the vehicle collided head-on with Wolken's southbound 2008 Cadillac DTS.
The crash also involved Emma E. Franklin, 18, of Uniontown, and Jolee R. Olsen, 20, of Lawrence. Both were transported by emergency medical services to Overland Park Regional Medical Center following the collision.
Christian D. Wellbrock, 22, of Victoria, who was a passenger in Wolken's Cadillac, was also injured and taken to KU Medical Center for treatment. Authorities reported that everyone involved was properly restrained at the time of the crash.
The circumstances surrounding the collision remain part of the official investigation. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol report cited by local news outlets, Davis had been traveling northbound and attempted to pass the vehicles driven by Franklin and Olsen before the Kia struck the Cadillac head-on.
