North Charleston, South Carolina – The North Charleston community is mourning the sudden loss of Bryce Jordan Reed, a gifted baseball player, devoted father, and cherished member of his hometown. Born on March 20, 2000, Reed passed away unexpectedly at the age of 23, leaving family, friends, and the local sports community heartbroken.
Reed grew up in North Charleston, South Carolina, where he attended R. B. Stall High School. From an early age, he displayed a natural athletic talent and quickly became a standout on the school’s baseball team.
Coaches and teammates remember him not only for his skills on the field but also for his leadership, perseverance, and unwavering sportsmanship. His dedication to baseball was matched by his commitment to his studies, setting an example of discipline and passion for younger athletes.
After high school, Reed continued his education at Voorhees University, graduating in 2024. While at Voorhees, he remained an active member of the baseball program, balancing academics and athletics with the same determination that defined his life.
His peers and professors described him as intelligent, kind, and driven—someone who could inspire a room with both his energy and humility. Beyond the baseball diamond, Reed was a devoted partner and loving father.
He is survived by his daughter, NiAh Nelson, and their children, Kyro and Jenae, who were the center of his world. In a heartfelt message shared by family, they wrote:
“Yesterday, we were shattered with the news of Bryce Jordan Reed passing. We don’t understand ANY of this but we trust God. Please keep my daughter NiAh Nelson and her & Bryce’s babies, Kyro and Jenae, in your prayers.”
Friends, teammates, and community members remember Reed as an individual who brought joy, laughter, and inspiration to everyone around him. Whether mentoring younger players, volunteering in community sports programs, or simply offering a helping hand, Reed’s impact extended far beyond the baseball field.
