Merrillville Murder Suicide – Police Investigate Fatal Domestic Incident

Authorities in Merrillville are investigating a tragic incident that appears to be a murder-suicide after two people were found dead inside a home on the 7600 block of Van Buren Street. 

The call came in around 8:15 a.m. on February 27, when officers were dispatched in response to a report of a firearm assault. Upon arrival, officers discovered the bodies of a man and a woman inside the residence.

According to the Merrillville Police Department, preliminary findings suggest that the incident was domestic in nature, and there is currently no ongoing threat to the public. 

Police Chief Kosta Nuses confirmed that the investigation is still active as authorities work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the deaths. While details are limited, the department emphasized that the situation appears to have originated from within the household.
