It is with profound sorrow that the family and community of Benton, Arkansas, announce the passing of Wyatt Joseph Elrod, age 17, who went to play his clarinet at the feet of Jesus on January 24, 2026.
Born on September 8, 2008, in Little Rock to Daniel and Amanda Elrod, Wyatt brought joy, laughter, and love into the lives of everyone who knew him. He was an amazing older brother to Wesley Elrod, age 9, and a cherished friend and relative to many.
Wyatt’s life, though heartbreakingly short, was full of accomplishments, adventures, and the kind of kindness that left a lasting impression on everyone he met. A Junior at Benton High School, Wyatt was a talented clarinetist and an integral member of the Benton High School band.
His passion for music extended beyond the classroom and the band hall; his heart and talent were evident in every note he played. He was also an active member of the Holland Chapel Baptist Church Youth Group, where his faith, energy, and joyful spirit inspired his peers and leaders alike.
Wyatt had an extraordinary love for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, mountain biking, and exploring new places. Family trips were especially meaningful, and on a recent visit to Yellowstone National Park, Wyatt meticulously mapped out each day, marveling at the wonders around him.
He loved spending time at the lake with friends and family, swimming in pools with his brother Wesley, and soaking in every moment of adventure with a natural curiosity and enthusiasm that was contagious.
Despite his disciplined and hardworking nature, Wyatt had a lighthearted side and a brilliant sense of humor. He delighted in making those around him laugh, often through the clever videos and playful antics he shared.
He was thoughtful, intelligent, curious, and generous with his love and affection, leaving a remarkable legacy of joy, creativity, and compassion. Wyatt’s family remembers him as a young man whose combination of humor, intelligence, and kindness made him extraordinary.
Wyatt is preceded in death by his great-grandparents Joe Perry and Christine Elrod, Ned and June Touchstone, and his grandmother Tonya Butner.
He is survived by his grandparents Donald and Janet Elrod, and David and Charmain Touchstone, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family who loved him dearly. Among his close family are Molly and Chad Hansen (Mia), Melanie Holliday, Sarah and Shaun Marmolejo (Hannah and Analiese), Olivia and Jared Maness (Reed, Duke, and Garrett), and Jared Touchstone (Atlas, Vara, and Clara), along with his brother Wesley.
Wyatt’s passing is a profound loss for the Benton community, his school, church, and family. Yet, his memory lives on in the countless lives he touched, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave so freely.
Though he is no longer with us, the Elrod family clings to the hope that they will see him again in heaven, and the legacy of Wyatt Joseph Elrod’s kind, joyful, and adventurous spirit will never be forgotten.
His family invites friends and community members to celebrate his life, share memories, and hold Wyatt close in their hearts, ensuring his spirit continues to inspire and uplift those he loved.
